COVID-19 Restricted Access to Penn Engineering Buildings

To ensure the health of our community and pursuant to Governor Wolf’s directive last night and  recent University communication regarding University operations, Penn Engineering will be indefinitely restricting access to its buildings beginning today Friday March, 20th.

Only essential teaching and research lab operations that have received approved are permitted by exception. We need your help to safeguard those performing the limited activity permitted to continue.

Faculty and research personnel who submitted a request via the SEAS Essential Activities form and were approved by Cherie Kagan, Associate Dean for Research, will retain access to the buildings. Access is only for approved essential activities.  All other faculty and research personnel cannot access the buildings.

Doctoral students and postdoctoral students approved to perform essential research lab activity by the Associate Dean for Research will retain access to the buildings.  No other students can access the buildings.

Staff who submitted a request to Chambrel Jones, Director of Administrative Operations for the Dean’s Office, and were approved to perform an essential activity will retain access to the buildings.  All other staff cannot access the buildings.

Those approved for access bear a significant responsibility.  You should not allow, for any reason, anyone to join or accompany you into the buildings if they have not been approved for access.

If you have not been approved through the proper channels listed, you cannot access and should not attempt to gain entry to the buildings for any reason.  We ask that you support the School’s essential functions during this time through remote activity.

If you have not already done so, faculty and research lab personnel seeking access should complete the SEAS Essential Activities form. Decisions on access will be completed quickly and relayed by the Associate Dean for Research.

Any staff clarification regarding access should be directed to Chambrel Jones, Director of Administrative Operations for the Dean’s Office, at chambrel@seas.upenn.edu.

Those approved for access to the buildings who encounter issues should contact Killian Feeney, Director of Operations, at eos@seas.upenn.edu.

The COVID-19 situation continues to be fluid. Access privileges will continue to be evaluated as events unfold.  Regular access privileges will be restored once normal University campus operations are allowed to resume.

Please monitor the School specific COVID-19 page for updates.

Thank you and please continue to stay safe!
